Focus Mode: Calm Coffee, Bold Flavor
A hidden spot where the playlist is good, the art is inspiring, and the coffee keeps you going.
Tucked just a 6-minute walk away from Sudirman Station, I stumbled upon Second Floor Coffee Menteng—a calm escape from the city's usual noise and rush. The first thing I noticed was how fresh the place felt. There's an art gallery right next to it, and the artistic touch continues inside, making it feel like you're stepping into a hidden creative corner of the city.
I arrived around 4 PM, and for a while, the café was blissfully quiet. It wasn't until dinner hours between 5:30 and 7 that the crowd started to build. The music was a pop playlist—familiar tunes but played at just the right volume so I could comfortably take a Zoom meeting without distractions. It was exactly what I needed: a space where I could hear my own thoughts, and still feel surrounded by life.
The interior carries a clean modern minimalist vibe. Neutral color tones, geometric floor tiles, and both the indoor and semi-outdoor seating areas are dressed with various art styles—paintings that make the whole place feel more like an open gallery. I wasn't even planning to stop here for work, but I was honestly just bored of the typical franchise cafés. I craved something different, something with intention.
During my stay, I ended up trying two of their signature drinks. The first was Yuziutto—a double ristretto infused with yuzu. It was sharp and citrusy, the kind of drink that wakes you up without overwhelming your senses. A few hours later, I tried something more curious: the Seaweed, a blend of matcha and ristretto that, surprisingly, did give off seaweed-like notes. Not in a bad way—it was earthy, unique, and memorable. I also ordered a plate of Prawn Aglio Olio to refuel and mineral water to balance it all out. One thoughtful detail: every coffee comes with a small botle of water, perfect for resetting your palate.
I left feeling full, satisfied, and even a little inspired. This spot feels like one of those cafés you keep in your back pocket—not just for good coffee, but for those quiet windows between 2 to 4 PM when you need to focus, reset, or even impress a client with something a little out of the ordinary.
